Background:

Mother Kevin Nursery School is located in Nsambya, Kampala. The land on which it is built is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Kampala and is shared with various community outreaches including the Nsambya Children's Orphanage Home.

The school started in 1998 and is operated by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix-Ggogonya Sisters including the principal, Sr. Agnes, and a board of governors. The school was established to provide education for the children living in the orphanage home, but also accepts children from the nearby slum area. When Classrooms for Africa became involved with the school in 2015, over 300 children are enrolled in three nursery levels including 3 - 5 year olds. Local businesses help pay the school fees. Temporary wooden classrooms were used. The school had started to build a two-story classroom block on the same land as the present buildings.

In 2016 funds were raised by Classrooms for Africa to complete the ground floor of the building which included five classrooms and storage space. In 2018 the second floor was completed and opened by a team of Classrooms for Africa representatives. The small vulnerable children now have a safe and secure environment in which to learn.
