Background:

The Village of Hope Community School is located near Mongu, the capital city of Western Province in Zambia. The town stands near the sandy flood plains of the Zambizi River. The school was started in 2009, on land deeded to the charity by the local village chief, to provide Christian education for the 80 plus orphan children living at the Village of Hope (VOH), Mongu. The school also registers students from the local community. Currently it offers pre-school through Grade 7 education. The school has completed a total of three classroom blocks of which Classrooms for Africa has funded two. The Village of Hope is part of the orphan program (Villages of Hope Africa) run by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. They provide mother-lead homes, education, health care and nutrition for these vulnerable children.
